One bad egg and a system is ruined.

I’m not a fan of yam but when it comes to eating it with spiced eggs and vegetables? I’m in, always.

One Friday morning, I woke up with this burning desire to eat Sliced yam with scrambled eggs and a dash of pumpkin leaves. By 8:00 am, I was already slicing yam.

With the yam on the stove, it was time for the eggs. I picked four; don’t judge me, I wasn’t alone. I mindlessly broke three with the thoughts of how well I would spice and enjoy my meal.

At the fourth egg, I woke up. I was suddenly conscious. The fourth egg was bad! It is was green with a stench. And I broke it into the plate with the others.

The smell took away my hopes of a great meal. And to make it worse, I used all the eggs in the house. I was left with nothing.
Before breaking the eggs, I had blended my tomato sauce, sliced the vegetables, and was heating the oil.

How would I eat my yams? Can I salvage the three good eggs? Is there a way to filter the bad one out? These questions bugged me for a few seconds.

Then I decided.

I would fry the eggs anyway. It can’t be that bad. The taste of three would overwhelm that of one. I’ll make the sauce even more spicy, be creative. Salvage the situation. I can still have a great meal. And I will.

So I did. I added a little more spice and fried my eggs.
Yeah, you’re right. It was horrible. Smelled and tasted (yes I tried it) like crap. It tasted like a bad egg.

My plans for a great meal evaporated with the taste.
My sauce, as yummy as I tried to make it, was a waste. My vegetables were no good. The oil was a waste. I wasted my gas, my time, and my creativity.

One bad egg and everything went to the trash.
I bet the other eggs were sad. On the way to the trash, they may have protested — who says eggs don’t have feelings?

“Not all eggs”
“Don’t trash us all for the taste of one”
“We’re even bigger than it, we’re fresher”

But the taste of one ruined my meal. It wasn’t my fault, I had to trash them. I couldn’t appreciate the three, the sauce, or the spice all because of one- bad egg.

That was all it took. Just one. To ruin the others, their taste, and my day.

Turns out it takes just one to ruin even a crate.

Just one bad egg and the good three didn’t matter anymore.
Now if one can ruin three, imagine how many 3 can ruin or 11 or a thousand or a million.

So when you say “it’s just one bad cop”, “one rapist”, “not all men”, understand that if one is bad and the others do not get rid of it, then ALL is bad.

P.S: I had to get new ones. It was the only way to have my dream meal.
